What is KnowGately?+
KnowGately is a parent dashboard and a separate Kids app. An adult chooses learning material and rules; the child opens only the assigned path on a paired device.
Can my child browse YouTube, Shorts or recommendations?+
No. The child receives a specific video or a bounded parent-approved channel list. The Kids app does not expose open YouTube search, Shorts, comments, the general feed or an address bar.
Does KnowGately remove every YouTube ad?+
No. KnowGately itself has no advertising inventory or ad SDK, but YouTube may serve provider ads inside its official embedded player. To respect YouTube's policies, KnowGately does not remove or interfere with those ads. Our best effort focuses on removing the surrounding distractions: Shorts, the open feed, search, comments and unrelated navigation.
What happens to advertising on approved webpages?+
The Kids app makes a best-effort attempt to reduce as much advertising noise as possible by blocking established advertising hosts and hiding clearly labelled ad containers. It does this only where it can avoid breaking the page or violating provider policies. Because external sites can change, KnowGately cannot promise that every promotional element will always be removed.
What does ‘learning first, dessert later’ mean?+
You can set minimum time goals for learning subjects and keep a reward subject locked until all or selected learning goals are reached. You choose both the goals and the reward.
Which material can I assign?+
Parents can assign specific YouTube videos, approved webpages, PDFs and images. Availability can differ by platform and release; the parent interface explains when a task must be completed on the web dashboard.
How do the parent and child apps stay connected?+
A one-time code pairs the child device to one child profile. The server remains the rules authority, while the parent dashboard shows devices, progress and live controls.
What progress can a parent see?+
Parents can review subject time, completed resources and attempts to leave approved areas. Completion rules depend on the material type and are checked by the service.
Is KnowGately a guarantee that every page is safe?+
No service can make that absolute promise. The parent selects the material, KnowGately contains navigation and fails closed when authorization is unclear, and the parent should still review external material before assigning it.
How is family data handled?+
Child profiles belong to the parent account. Consent is required before child data is collected, paired devices can be revoked, and parents can review or delete family data. Full details are in the privacy policy.
Is there a paid plan?+
Core use starts free. Premium capabilities are being prepared, but purchasing is not open yet and nothing in the current app charges a parent or child.
