What is KnowGately? KnowGately is a parent dashboard and a separate Kids app. An adult chooses learning material and rules; the child opens only the assigned path on a paired device.
Content and YouTube
What a child can and cannot open, and what happens to ads.
Can my child freely browse YouTube?+
Assign a specific video. Your child watches it in Kids, without open YouTube search, comments or freely browsing recommendations.
Does KnowGately remove every YouTube ad?+
No. KnowGately adds no ads of its own, but YouTube may show ads in its player. KnowGately does not remove them. Selecting a video does not make it ad-free.
What happens to advertising on approved webpages?+
Kids reduces recognised ads where doing so does not break the page or violate the provider’s rules. Some ads may remain. Check a webpage before sharing it with your child.
Which material can I assign?+
Parents can assign specific YouTube videos, approved webpages, PDFs and images. Availability can differ by platform and release; the parent interface explains when a task must be completed on the web dashboard.
Is KnowGately a guarantee that every page is safe?+
No. You choose and review each resource before sharing it. KnowGately limits navigation inside Kids but does not replace an adult’s judgement about content. If it cannot confirm access, it does not open the resource.
Devices and pairing
Which app goes where, pairing, and what KnowGately cannot control on the device.
How do the parent and child apps stay connected?+
Install Kids on your child’s device and pair it with their profile using a one-time code. Choose materials, change rules and review activity in the parent dashboard. Sending changes requires an internet connection.
Does KnowGately lock the whole phone or computer?+
Installing Kids alone does not block every other app or browser. Whole-device restrictions depend on the operating system and additional setup. Always check the settings on your child’s device.
Will it work on our devices?+
Use the parent dashboard in a browser, including on iPhone, or the Parents app on Android. KnowGately Kids for Android — Google Play. Windows 11: Get it from Microsoft Store. Kids for iPhone and iPad is not yet available to download.
What happens without internet?+
Plan for an internet connection: YouTube videos and webpages need it. Do not assume all materials will be available offline. Remote pauses and rule changes cannot reach a disconnected device until it reconnects.
Can I add siblings?+
Yes. Each child has a separate profile, materials and rules. A device is paired with one child profile — a shared tablet does not automatically recognise who is using it.
Goals, rewards and progress
How a learning goal works, what a reward is, and what you see afterwards.
What is a reward?+
Materials you choose in Kids, such as a cartoon in a separate subject. You can make access depend on learning time in one or more subjects. Rewards are optional. This example assumes the allowed hours and reward time limit also permit access. A reward does not unlock other apps or the whole device.
What progress can a parent see?+
Check recorded time and completed materials in your dashboard. Talk about what your child discovered and choose the next topic together. Time and completion describe activity in the app. They do not, by themselves, confirm understanding.
Do I have to prepare a new lesson every day?+
You do not have to rebuild a set every day. Added materials stay in their subjects. Start with a video you know or your own PDF; you are responsible for choosing the content. Add more materials and adjust the rules later.
Can my child use it independently?+
That depends on the materials and your child’s independence. Younger children may need help reading and doing tasks. Open the first resource together and check that its controls and content suit your child.
Family data and the plan
Who owns the data, how to delete it, and what is free.
How is family data handled?+
Child profiles belong to the parent account. Consent is required before child data is collected, paired devices can be revoked, and parents can review or delete family data. Full details are in the privacy policy.
Is there a paid plan?+
Core use starts free. Premium capabilities are being prepared, but purchasing is not open yet and nothing in the current app charges a parent or child.
